Howdy. I’m Micael, owner and photographer behind Shoot’n Star Photography. I specialize in vintage inspired portaits and pin-up girl photography. I’ve been involved in photography in one way or another since 1996, working in custom labs at Fujifilm and Ritz Camera. I was hobbyist for quite a number of years before going to school and majoring in Photography with an emphasis on people/portaits.
I absolutely love what I do…if you love what I do as well then please call to set up a shoot!
As much as studio lighting is a necessity of photography, natural light still reigns king if you can get up early enough to catch the good rays. I shot these this morning of my daughter while we were checking out blue bonnets. This is no doubt the most beautiful time of the year in Central Texas. Enjoy!
This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure to photograph this beautiful family. Gloria always knows how to style her boys! Gloria has earned her PhD, all the while working full time and doing an amazing job of being a mother. This is really a victory for everyone in the family to be proud of!
Upon going through boxes in my garage, I happened upon my very first camera! Polaroid 600 Cool Cam that I got back in 1985. I also had found some pictures I had taken with it, total treasure! My hubby and I set up the studio in our kitchen and had an impromptu photo shoot. I feel SO awkward in front of the camera rather than behind it… it made me realize I should get in front of the camera MORE! Being the subject from time to time keeps it real and reminds me of how my subjects/clients feel.
Mothers Day is just around the corner! For the entire month of April, I’m running a Mother’s Day special. If you book AND shoot during April, you receive $50 off the package of your choice! This would be a great gift for single moms or military wives who really deserve their day in the spotlight! You could gift a shoot’n session OR a cupcakes & cowgirls pin-up shoot….either way everything is $50 off. Check out these adorable images of Anna and her sweet daughter Emilee taken at Murpho’s Customs in South Austin and at Amy’s Ice Cream
Combing the styling of a pin-up girl with the beauty and seducion of boudoir, I loved doing this set and will definitely be doing something like this again in the near future!
This beautiful couple is expecting their first child any day now! Oso,the father, is a musician who really wanted to incorporate his love of music (and his new baby girl) into their maternity shoot. Check out these two and their adorable baby bump! Be sure to follow up when we have a newborn to do cool photos of ;)

I’ve worked with Darla in the past on one other shoot in which we did a cowgirl pin-up on a mechanical bull. Of course with this shoot, we did a polar opposite look and went the route of parisian pin-up girl. I love working with models, professional or aspiring professionals because they bring as much passion into the shoot as I do..it’s a creative outlet for the both of us. In this shoot Darla was her own hairstylist,make-up artist and stylist. I think she really nailed it and I’m totally proud of the work we did together.

Sophia and Matthew had originally exchanged vows in Las Vegas last year but decided that their families were too important to not have another celebration in which they all could atttend. They chose Texas Old Town wedding and event venue in Kyle,TX…a sprawling, rustic and romantic venue. The bride and her bridesmaids handmade all the centerpieces and decor. You can tell how hard and how long they worked to put this day together!
The reception ended with a surprise performance by the bride and her bridesmaids….Nothing could prepare you for the awesomeness ;)
